Adan Mendoza is a retired Santa Fe County Sheriff's Major, and is running for Santa Fe County Sheriff.  He is seeking the Santa Fe County Democratic Party Nomination in the 2018 primary election. This is his first-ever campaign for elected office.

Ever since he was a young man Adan has been committed to public service, wanting to help people and to give back to his community, and law enforcement was the career path he chose.

In 2016, after serving 18 years as a Santa Fe County sheriff's deputy, he retired from the Sheriff's Office in good standing where he held the rank of Major, which is the third highest-ranking position within the agency.  During his 18-year career in law enforcement Adan advanced professionally, beginning as a patrolman then as an investigative detective.  Over the years he became a supervisor and administrator holding command positions including corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and major.

His grassroots campaign for Sheriff of Santa Fe County is about continuing his long held commitment to public service and making a difference to make our communities safer.  "Respect for others, fairness and tolerance are principles I have used throughout my life.  Those values have been a cornerstone for my personal life and professional career and I will continue to apply those ethics as Sheriff of Santa Fe County."

Adan has the knowledge, compassion and leadership ability to lead the dedicated women and men who serve and protect the communities and residents of Santa Fe county.  "In law enforcement public service is about public trust. Our campaign is about working with communities at the grassroots level to discuss ways we can enhance public safety and make communities safer and more secure for all."

"If Santa Fe County voters give me the privilege to serve them as Sheriff, I will continue working to move the agency forward in a positive direction by increasing the number of Sheriff's deputies patrolling our roads, improving technological advances within the agency, working to improve the public's accessibility and enhancing public transparency."

Adan, 45, graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in criminology.  He entered law enforcement in 1998 enrolling in the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and graduated with distinction.

Adan, a Democrat, was born in Santa Fe and raised in the traditional village of La Cieneguilla.  He is one of four siblings and has a teenage daughter that he is raising. He coaches high school football and is a substitute teacher.  "It's important to lead by example so we can instill public service principles in our youth.  I want to continue to help people and give back to my community. Serving as Sheriff of Santa Fe County would be an honor and privilege."

"Your vote and support is greatly appreciated and valued."
